Life After Dogma

Religious Trauma and Deconstruction Coaching

Coaching is focused work on religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and faith deconstruction. We examine the beliefs and experiences that still carry fear, shame, guilt, or power over you, and rebuild your own sense of meaning, values, and spirituality or secular humanism on your own terms.

Coaching is available internationally, wherever you are.

What coaching is, and what it is not

Coaching is targeted work on religious trauma, religious abuse, and faith deconstruction. It is not general mental health treatment. It does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, and it is not psychotherapy.

If what you are carrying is primarily depression, an anxiety disorder, PTSD, disordered eating, substance use, or thoughts of harming yourself, that belongs with a licensed therapist in your own jurisdiction. I will tell you so directly rather than take the work on.

Coaching can run alongside existing therapy, as a supplement rather than a replacement. Many clients keep their own therapist for their broader mental health and work with me on the specifically religious material — the theology, the indoctrination, the deconstruction — which is often the part a general therapist is not equipped to address.

What we work on

Identifying and unpicking indoctrination. Working through teachings that still carry fear, shame, guilt, or authority over you. Rebuilding self-trust and reconnecting with your own intuition and values. Making sense of manipulation or abuse you experienced. Reclaiming sexuality from purity culture. And building meaning, community, and belonging outside of dogmatic religion, whether that ends up looking spiritual, secular, or somewhere in between.

Who it is for

People questioning or leaving a religion, cult, or high-control group. People who left years ago but still carry religious fear, shame, or sexual repression. People rebuilding identity and community afterwards. I work with clients from Evangelical Christianity, Pentecostal and Charismatic backgrounds, Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hinduism, Buddhism, tantra and sex cults, narcissistic abuse, and others.

If you are located in California, you may instead be eligible for psychotherapy with me, which can address your mental health more broadly — see Religious Trauma Therapy in California.
